The Pastor of House Hold Of God Church, Pastor Chris Okotie, on Sunday, 25th October, while preaching in his church said openly that the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor deceived former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to contest in the last election saying, God has said he would win the election and he can go ahead with it.

According to Okotie, the former president had not been willing to recontest, but when Oritsejafor gave him his word, he went ahead. Okotie alleged that so many pastors knew that Oritsejafor had given a false prophesy but were too scared to call him out, because they do not want to be insulted on the pages of newspapers, but he, Okotie never stopped saying, Goodluck Jonathan was going to fail because he wasn’t the candidate of the Lord.

An undergraduate was hacked to death at Olorunfunmi Street in Oworo area of Lagos, on Thursday.32- year-old Lawal Afolabi Kunbi, was allegedly killed by a debtor trying to evade payment.

Kunbi, a business administration student of Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo, reportedly received a telephone call from a private security guard, identified simply as Aliu, who lives on same street with him, to come and collect N32,000 owed him.
Sunday Vanguard gathered that the deceased, who owned a provision store, sold his motorcycle to Aliu, in order to raise money to pay his school fees, about a month ago.

71 Year Old Pastor And Wife Arrested For Buying a Stolen Baby In Abia State

                                    

A 71- year old retired pastor of a pentecostal church in Abriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, Rev. Chima Egbochiogum, and his wife, Ugo, have been arrested for an alleged illegal adoption of a baby.

Commissioner of Police, Joshak Habila, who paraded the couple in Umuahia, alongside other suspects in connection with the incident, alleged they bought a stolen baby.

The police boss said the pastor and his wife were nabbed following a confession by a notorious child trafficker who was arrested last month for human trafficking.

According to him, the child trafficker, identified simply as Ekwutosi, stole an 11-month-old baby girl belonging to a 21- year -old pregnant mother, who he had pretended to assist.

ITV reporter James Mates, who witnessed the whole incident, reports that refugees on board the trains leaving Budapest's Keleti station believed they were going to Austria.

However, the train soon stopped at the small town of Bicske 30 miles down the line where police were waiting. Police tried to clear the train by carriages, 100 people or so at a time and push them through an underpass before backing down.

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC Ibe Kachiukwu yesteday announced that the Port Harcourt refinery has resumed operations and produces 5 million liters of petrol per day. While addressing journalists in Port Harcourt Kachikwu said this recent development will help to stop the era of fuel shortage in the country. He says the plan is to ensure that all the refineries function optimally.

He also revealed that there are plans to engage the services of the Nigerian Air force using drones for surveillance of the petroleum pipelines across the country. Kachikukwu also revealed that the Warri refinery will begin full operation before this week ends.

Lawmakers Urge Governor Obiano To Immortalise Akunyili

                 

The Anambra state House of Assembly on Tuesday asked the state Governor, Willie Obiano, to immortalise a former Minister of Information and Communication, Prof. Dora Akunyili who once also headed NAFDAC.

The motion to immortalise Akunyili was moved by the member representing Orumba-South constituency, Nikky Ugochuikwu, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development.

Ugochukwu explained that immortalisation of Prof. Akunyili would spur other citizens of the state to be fully committed in the pursuit of excellence in their various areas of endeavour. Akunyili died of cancer in an Indian hospital on June 7, 2014.

About 17 years after she was born through In Vitro Fertilisation, Nigeria’s first test tube baby, Miss Hannatu Kupchi, has secured admission into a Hungarian University to study medicine.

The medical doctor that supervised the first IVF experiment in Nigeria, Dr. Ibrahim Wada, told 

Punch that Hannatu’s birth on February 11, 1998, at Nisa Premier Hospital in Abuja, signalled a revolution in the practice of medicine in Nigeria.

Speaking on Sunday evening in Abuja during a brief reception and presentation of an award to Kupchi, he said, “When I was out of this country, I knew there were people who wanted babies. I made the decision to come back to Nigeria to help people. It happened on February 11, 1998 when this historic event occurred in this hospital.”

Man Jailed For 5 Years For Setting Pregnant Wife On Fire

An Egor Magistrates’ Court in Benin, Edo State, on Monday sentenced one Lucky Esonahae to five years imprisonment for setting his pregnant lover ablaze.

The 37-year-old bar operator was arraigned on one count bordering on causing bodily harm.

The charge read, “That you, Lucky Esonahae, on July 6, 2015, at Uwelu Quartres, Benin, in the Egor Magisterial District, did cause grievous harm to one Stella Isaac, by setting her on fire with kerosene, which cause her bodily harm and, thereby, committed an offence punishable under Section 355(B) of the Criminal Code Cap 48, Vol. II, Law of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976, as applicable to Edo State.”
