The Federal Government has demanded for the bodies of four Nigerians who were executed by firing squad in Indonesia on drug related offences on Tuesday. Fuel Scarcity: Federal Government To Pay Marketers N156bn Fuel Subsidy Claims

In order to prevent current fuel scarcity, The Federal Government, yesterday, said it would pay MOWAN N156 billion, out of the about N256.2 billion the marketers claim is owed to them in subsidy claims. 

Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala made this statement at the World Customs Day event held in Abuja yesterday, expressed optimism that the payment, which is expected to be made today, will help address the current fuel scarcity plaguing the country. According to her, the Federal Government is committed to ending the fuel scarcity within the shortest time and that despite the revenue challenges facing the government, the issue of fuel subsidy payments to oil marketers remain a huge priority.

Borno state govt says profiling of the 293 females rescued from Sambisa forest yesterday April 28th shows that they are from Damboa local government and not from Chibok as was highly speculated.

Speaking with newsmen in Maiduguri today April 29th, the state Commissioner for Information, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, say the rescued females are from Bumsiri village in Damboa Local government area and were all kidnapped from the village by the sect members.

I Worked To Raise $6000 For Libyan Abductors – 15 years Old kidnapped Schoolgirl Reveals

                             

Precious Nwaigwe, the 15-year-old schoolgirl, who was kidnapped in the Ajah area of Lagos State about a year ago, has said she was made to work for $6,000 the Libyan pimp paid to buy her.

She added that after paying the money, she was again used as collateral for a 500 Libyan dinars (N50,000) loan.

She also stated that her abductors conducted pregnancy tests on her three different times, which were negative.

The schoolgirl, who was released on Friday, spoke to Punch Metro on Monday in Ikeja, Lagos.

She said she saw more than 1,000 Nigerian girls, who were also forced to work for the money paid by the pimps to the human traffickers.

21 Killed By Boko Haram in Yobe Today

       

21 persons are feared dead after suspected Boko Haram members ambushed them in Bultaram village in Gujba Local government area of Yobe state on Monday April 27th. Baba Nuhu, an official of the local government where the men were killed, said the victims, all male, had gone to their deserted village to see if they could collect some food when they were ambushed and shot dead by the sect members. According to AFP, the victims and their families had taken refuge in Damaturu the Yobe state capital after the sect members attacked their village some months back

"The men, 21 of them, were stopped at Bultaram (village) by gunmen we believe are Boko Haram who shot them dead," said Baba Nuhu

Nepal Earthquake Toll: Update! 3,700 Dead, Many Thousands Injured

                           

Rescue workers were still struggling to reach isolated mountain villages two days after Nepal's earthquake death toll soared past 3,700 on Monday.
Reports received so far by the government and aid groups suggest that many communities perched on mountainsides are devastated or struggling to cope, reported The Associated Press. Udav Prashad Timalsina, the top official for the Gorkha district, near the epicenter of Saturday's quake, said he was in desperate need of help.

"There are people who are not getting food and shelter. I've had reports of villages where 70 percent of the houses have been destroyed," he said.
He said 223 people had been confirmed dead in the district but he presumed "the number would go up because there are thousands who are injured."

Saturday's magnitude 7.8 earthquake spread horror from Kathmandu to small villages and to the slopes of Mount Everest, triggering an avalanche that buried part of the base camp packed with foreign climbers preparing to make their summit attempts.

'This child will be a risk to you not just us' an anti-Islamic state activist wrote as he posted this photo on Twitter on Sunday night. The sick photo shows the newborn baby sleeping next to a handgun, hand grenade and an Islamic State birth certificate.

The image was posted through the twitter account of Abu Ward Al-Raqqawi an anti-Islamic State activist in Syria, in the hope of garnering attention to the international threat posed by ISIS.

The post said the newborn child is called ‘Jrah’, while his mothers name is ‘Om’ and his fathers name is ‘Abu.’ It also claimed the certificate next to the baby is an 'ISIS issued ID for a child'. The activist was trying to send a message but the photo has angered millions of people around the world.

19 Year Old Nigerian Student Dies At UK University School Hall Due To 'Helium Leak'

A Nigerian student named Alexander Ukwu, 19, died on Thursday April 23rd at the University of Southampton Hartley Grove Halls due to a 'Helium Leak'. Alex, who was an alumni of Loyola Jesuit College Class of 2012, was a first year student at the UK university studying MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering. 

 

He was found dead around 11.26am on Thursday morning inside a student halls of residence room filled with helium, according to a statement released by the university. A team of chemical experts had been called in to make sure it was safe for students who lived at the hall to go inside the building due to a large amount of helium gas inside. But when they discovered Alex's room was locked, they broke it down and discovered his body.

 

The halls were then cordoned off until at least 3pm. Alex's death is not being treated as suspicious, though no-one else was injured or treated at the scene.

More than 688 people have died in Nepal after a  terrifying 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the country. As rescue teams are still searching for survivors trapped under the debris, a senior home ministry official confirmed the deaths figure so far, informing that about 181 people were killed the country’s capital, Kathmandu.

The earthquake reportedly hit the capital and environs, which are densely populated, around 12 noon local time on Saturday, April 25, 2015, destroying countless properties. People also died in neighbouring countries hundreds of miles away – as far as India, Tibet and Bangladesh. About 20 people were said to have been killed in India, six in Tibet, two in Bangladesh and two Chinese citizens at the Nepal-China border.more pics after cut...

'Over 103 Exported Nigerian Products Were Rejected' - Minister says

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, said that over 103 Nigerian products exported abroad were rejected for being substandard. He said the products were said not to meet acceptable international quality standards

Aganga stated this in Abuja on Thursday, April 23, 2015, as he unveiled the new complex of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON). He blamed the rejection on the lack of accredited laboratories in the country, where the products could be tested before being shipped abroad. Boko Haram Changes Its Name To "Islamic State In West Africa"

According to reports, Boko Haram has changed its name to ‘Islamic State in West Africa.’

The group is said to have released new photos of its members and announced its new name, BBC Africa reports. Boko Haram pledged its allegiance to fellow terrorist group, Islamic State (ISIS) in March 2015. ISIS accepted the pledge and encouraged members to extend operations to West Africa.

Xenophobia: NANS Gives South African Govt 72 hrs Ultimatum

                                
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has given the South African Government 72 hours to stop xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africans resident in the country. NANS President Tijani Usman conveyed the ultimatum during a protest march by the association against such attacks on Tuesday in Abuja.

NANS had on April 18, issued a seven-days ultimatum to the South African Government to end the attacks.

The students who had placards with the inscriptions “Say no to Xenophobia’’; “Xenophobia is Evil’’; “South Africa, Enough is Enough’’, marched to the MTN office and the South African High Commission both in Maitama.

An Australian teenager has told how she was raped twice on Christmas Eve in Bali while holidaying with her family by a Nigerian guy. And has slammed Indonesian police for letting him escape back to his native Nigeria.

According to 19 year old Audrey Pekin, she was attacked by Henry Alafu (pictured above), who she had met with other friends a few days earlier when he lured her to his home. The pair had been drinking together at a bar when Alafu told Ms Pekin a party was taking place at a nearby villa, and the pair agreed to go to it together.

According to DailyMail, during the taxi ride to the home, Ms Pekin began to feel unwell due to her type 1 diabetes. Once they arrived at the house, she was not put off by the lack of 
noticeable noise that suggested there was no party taking place, because her illness made it 'impossible to think'.

Former Egyptian President, Mohamed Morsi Sentenced To 20 Years in Prison

  
An Egyptian criminal court in Cairo, Egypt's capital has sentenced former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to 20 years in prison over the killing of protesters in 2012. The former President's supporters attacked opposition protesters outside the presidential palace in December 2012, sparking clashes that killed at least 10 people.

Delivering judgement today, Judge Ahmed Youssef dropped the murder charges against Morsi and said the sentence was instead linked to the “show of force” against protesters & unlawful detentions. Morsi who is Egypt's first freely elected president came into office in 2011 after the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak. He was ousted by the army in 2013.
